The Indian Air Force on Tuesday morning inducted 4 US-made Apache AH-64E attack helicopters in Pathankot airbase by welcoming with a water canon salute. The choppers received a water cannon salute before induction at the airbase. The helicopters will give a big push to Air Force's combat powers.
Thus currently India is having only 16 attack helicopters which is very less compared to other countries like China,USA and Russia. Thus India has inducted 8 Chinook multirole helicopters on last month in Mundra Port in Gujarat.
The next batch of helicopters will be delivered by the end of this month.Apache AH-64E helicopter is one of the most advanced attack helicopter in the world. Thus a total 22 helicopters have been ordered by IAF in 2016 from US based company Boeing ltd with a cost of Rs.4168 crores.Rest batches of aircrafts wiil be delivered by 2020.
REASON TO BUY THIS AIRCRAFT?
- FIM 92- STINGER

- AGM 114 HELLFIRE

These are the two main reason according to me which forced IAF to buy Apache attack helicopters.
